Dr. Laurie Rice serves as a full-time faculty member and the Administrative Chair of Online Academic Programs at Liberty University. She began her career in Lynchburg City Schools as an elementary teacher, later becoming a middle school teacher with a focus on Civics and Physical Science. She transitioned to higher education as a supervisor working with student teaching candidates and later the Director of Online Student Teaching. In her current role, she enjoys collaborating with faculty and staff to help teacher candidates who are preparing to enter the teaching profession.
Dr. Goodwin serves as the Associate Dean of Licensure and Residential Programs in the School of Education at Liberty University. She specifically works with candidates who are enrolled in licensure programs studying to become teachers, reading or math specialists, or school administrators. She began her education career in the Tidewater area teaching in Newport News Public Schools and then moved to Central VA to teach in Lynchburg City Schools. After teaching in various elementary classrooms, Dr. Goodwin then transitioned to an instructor position at LU training future educators. Later, she moved into an Assistant Dean position where she currently enjoys collaborating with faculty, staff, candidates, and the community to pursue excellence in our education programs that will prepare competent individuals with a Biblical worldview who will effectively lead the schools and classrooms of the future.
Dr. Carol E. Canady serves as a full-time residential faculty member at Liberty University. She began her teaching career as a K-8 teacher and counselor, later becoming a reading specialist, literacy coach and consultant. With many years of teaching in the K-12 setting, Dr. Canady transitioned to higher education as a Visiting Professor at Miami University and as an Instructor at Wright State and Cincinnati Christian Universities before accepting her current position at Liberty University. She also has co-authored two books, including a 2021 publication entitled Early Literacy Matters: A Leader’s Guide to Systematic Change.
Biography:
Dr. Nancy DeJarnette joined the Liberty University School of Education as a Professor and the Director of Accreditation and Assessment in 2022. Previously she consistently served LUO as an adjunct. She has been directly involved with Educator Preparation (CAEP) accreditation since 2015. Dr. DeJarnette has served in teacher preparation in higher education for the past 15 years. Prior to that she was a teacher in both middle and elementary schools for 15 years.
Dr. Foster serves as a full-time faculty member at Liberty University and is the Assessment Coordinator for the School of Education and Program Director of Educational Leadership. She began her career as a Spanish teacher, later moving to education research, and then into teacher education and doctoral studies. She also teaches research courses as an adjunct with Liberty University Online.
